Who Can Benefit from the Yaktrax Pro Ice Grips?

Whether you want to walk, run or work in snowy conditions, the Yaktrax Pros are suitable for you. Utilising a series of steel coils, they can help you achieve the stability you would usually except from non-slippery terrains like concrete.

Are the Ice Grips Easy to Walk With?

The innovative coiled design of the Ice Grip Pros allow you to achieve outstanding stability and traction without restricting your movements. Made from light steel and rubber they are very lightweight, and unlike snow spikes will not catch in the ground as you walk. This ensures you can maintain a natural gait at all times.

How Do I Put Yaktrax On?

Offering convenience in addition to efficacy, the Yaktrax Pros only take a few moments to put on. Simply sit with one leg over the over, then put on your Yaktrax starting from heel to toe. Finally, secure the safety strap over the front of your shoe.

Is There Anything I Should Check Before Using Yaktrax?

The Yaktrax need to be applied correctly to prevent the risk of damage and user injury. Before setting off, check that:

  1. The word 'heel' or 'toe' on your Yaktrax are pressed against your shoe (they should not be visible or the device is inside out).
  2. The coils sit flat against the soles of your shoes and do not go past its edge.
  3. The outer band rests against the outer edge of your footprint (this should not be caught on the sole).
  4. The strap fasteners should sit on the outer edge of your shoe.
  5. There is a circular knob visible on the Yaktrax webbing covering your sole.

Which Size Is Right for Me?

The Yaktrax Pros are available in four different sizes. To find the perfect fit for your shoes measure the circumference of your shoe's footprints. Shoe sizing can also give you an indication as to which Yaktrax size will suit you best, but always take circumference into consideration first as the walking aids will fit on your shoes' exteriors.

Yaktrax Sole Circumference Guide

Measure around the outside footprint of your shoe and match your results to the table below.

Size Circumference (cm) Circumference (inches)
Small 58 - 64cm 23 - 25"
Medium 64 - 72cm 25 - 28"
Large 72 - 76cm 28 - 30"
Extra Large 76 - 82cm 30 - 32"

Please note, if you are buying these Yaktrax for shoes with high domed toes and your fall between two sizes, we recommend you select the larger size.

Can I Walk On Pavement With the Yaktrax?

To prevent injury to yourself of damage to the product, you should always avoid walking or running on non-snow or ice-covered surfaces, including pavement, concrete and gravel. Instead, try to take them off and carry them when walking over such terrain.

Do Yaktrax Eliminate the Risk of Ice?

Yaktrax can make it easier to walk and run on snow or ice, but they do not eliminate all the risks associated with such terrains. It is still possible to slip, fall or hurt yourself in these conditions, so you should always exercise great caution, even when you are wearing your Yaktrax.

How Heavy Are the Yaktrax Pros?

The Yaktrax Pros are very light, so you can take them off and carry them quite easily. Depending on your chosen size, each pair will weigh between 130 - 200g (134.7 - 7.6 oz).

What Are the Yaktrax Pros Made Of?

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit

Using Your Shoe Size

For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.

Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.

Measuring Your Current Insoles

While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.

To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
  2. Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
  3. Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results

Where Can I Find the Dimensions?

The dimensions for insoles can be found on the "Product Details" tab (please see below) and are usually found in the sizing section of the listing, in a table. Please be aware that not all products currently have the dimensions listed.

What If There Are No Dimensions Listed?

If you do not see the dimensions listed on the Product Details tab, please fill in the form below and we will work to get the relevant information as quickly as possible. We will email you once we have the information that you have requested.

Trimming Your Insoles to Fit

To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
  2. Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
  3. Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
  4. Carefully cut along the traced line
  5. Your insoles should now fit your shoes better

Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.
