MedSpec ASO Ankle Stabiliser Brace

Lightweight without the sacrifice of strength, the MedSpec ASO Ankle Stabiliser Brace is a form of support which does not compromise reliability in discreet design. The brace offers unrivalled stability and second-to-none control of the ankle due to its mediolateral design which helps to prevent injury, especially if you have previously suffered from ankle rollover.

How Can the Ankle Stabiliser Help Me?

The Ankle Stabilising Brace is suitable for a range of issues, including:

  • Inversion sprains
  • Eversion sprains
  • Medial instability
  • Lateral instability
  • Subtalar joint instability

Additionally, the MedSpec ASO Brace is ideal for use by sportspeople as it provides effective protection against ankle turning, while being simultaneously breathable and comfortable.

Key Features

  • Colour: Black
  • Material: Ballistic Nylon
  • Figure of eight strapping
  • Breathable material and design
  • Discreet design ideal for easy accommodation with footwear
  • Bilateral design means it can be used on either foot

How Does the MedSpec ASO Provide Stability?

The Stabiliser Brace offers speed and convenience with its unique laced enclosure design, which provides you with a high level of ankle support. The design of the brace means it is also easily to apply, so the last thing you have to worry about is struggling to fit the brace.

Does the MedSpec Brace Provide Compression?

The elastic cuff of the MedSpec ASO Brace helps to apply the ideal amount of compression to your ankle. This can be adjusted with the laced-enclosure design, allowing you to tweak your brace to ensure it is both comfortable and supportive.

Figure of Eight Strapping

The ASO Ankle Stabiliser includes figure of eight strapping which mimics taping application for optimal comfort during use.

Which Size Should I Choose?

The MedSpec ASO Brace is available in six sizes that should be suitable for most people. To find your perfect size, measure from the bottom of your heel around the top of your ankle (as shown in the graphic below), and refer to the sizing table below.

How to measure your ankle for the MedSpec ASO

Size Ankle Circumference
Extra Small                       25 - 28cm (10 - 11")
Small 28 - 30cm (11 - 12")
Medium 30 - 33cm (12 - 13")
Large 33 - 35cm (13 - 14")
Extra Large 35 - 38cm (14 - 15")
XX-Large 38 - 40cm (15 - 16")

Can I Choose My Size Based On My Shoe Size?

While it is slightly less accurate than the sizing method above, you can choose your MedSpec ASO size based on your UK shoe size. To find your size, refer to the table below:

UK Shoe Size MedSpec ASO Size
Size 4 - 6 Extra Small
Size 6.5 - 8 Small
Size 8.5 - 10 Medium
Size 10.5 - 12 Large
Size 12.5 - 14 Extra Large
Size 14+ XX-Large

Please note: This sizing method is intended as a guide only. For best results, use the sizing method described above.

How Do I Put the Ankle Stabiliser On?

For the best results in putting the MedSpec Ankle Brace on, follow the below instructions:

  1. Slide the brace on over your foot and into place on your ankle/foot
  2. Lace up the brace (imagine you are wearing a regular pair of laced shoes) in a figure of eight style
  3. Tie the laces securely
  4. Wrap the long strap around the ankle and under the foot, securing it in place
  5. Do the same on the other side
  6. Ensure these are in place on either sides of the ankle
  7. Wrap the final strap around the front of the ankle (so the logo is visible)

Should the Ankle Brace be Worn Under or Over my Sock?

We recommend that the Ankle Stabiliser be worn over socks. This provides optimum comfort for extended periods of use.

What is the Ankle Stabiliser Made From?

The MedSpec ASO Brace is made of durable ballistic nylon. This is a hand washable and breathable material ideal for sporting activities.

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit

Using Your Shoe Size

For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.

Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.

Measuring Your Current Insoles

While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.

To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
  2. Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
  3. Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results

Where Can I Find the Dimensions?

The dimensions for insoles can be found on the "Product Details" tab (please see below) and are usually found in the sizing section of the listing, in a table. Please be aware that not all products currently have the dimensions listed.

The dimensions of insoles can usually be found on the "Product Details" tab

What If There Are No Dimensions Listed?

If you do not see the dimensions listed on the Product Details tab, please fill in the form below and we will work to get the relevant information as quickly as possible. We will email you once we have the information that you have requested.

Trimming Your Insoles to Fit

To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
  2. Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
  3. Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
  4. Carefully cut along the traced line
  5. Your insoles should now fit your shoes better

Trace the outline of your existing insoles
Carefully trace the outline of your insole

Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.

If you would like a more detailed guide to trimming your insoles, please read our full guide on How to Trim Your Insoles.
