Spenco Ironman Pwr-Gel Cushioning Heel Cups

Built for high impact activities, the Spenco Ironman Pwr-Gel Cushioning Heel Cups offer comprehensive foot cushioning and support designed for protection over extended use. They use a series of advanced technology designs to offer the best care for your feet.

What Are the Features of These Heel Lifts?

To offer you the best in support, relief and performance, the Spenco Ironman Pwr-Gel Cushioning Heel Cups contain the following:

  • Pwr-Gel Base – offers excellent cushioning for the heel that does not diminish over time
  • 360 Heel Cup – guarantees the whole heel receives cushioning and support upon impact, and protects the plantar fascia
  • Pwr-Bridge – offers a series of support structures to properly align the heel and mid-foot, improving gait and posture for the whole foot
  • Pwr-Thane – a durable body material that returns the energy from impact into the foot, for exceptional performance even during recovery

Who Can Benefit from Using These Heel Inserts?

The Spenco Ironman Pwr-Gel Cushioning Heel Cups have been especially designed for intensive sporting applications. They are of particular benefit to anyone going through incremental training, or to anyone in injury recovery attempting to engage in higher impact activities.

Can the Pwr-Gel Heel Cups Be Used On Either Foot?

Yes! These are ambi-pedal shoe inserts, which means they offer good support on either or both heels.

Which Parts of the Foot Do These Heel Cups Support?

Unsurprisingly, these cups offer comprehensive support and alignment to the heels, but they also work to aid several other areas of the foot. They support and cushion the area where the plantar fascia meets the heel to reduce strain along and around this bone. While these areas are not comprehensively covered by the support, pressure is taken off of the lateral and medial arches through the effective control of foot position and gait.

How Does Pwr-Gel Work?

The Pwr-Gel material has been specially formulated to maximise cushioning for its wearer. It has less than an 11% compression set, meaning it springs back up even after extended wear to allow for exceptional impact resistance that stands the test of time. At the same time it is robust and durable, and able to withstand tear or degradation mile after mile.

How Does the 360 Heel Cup Work?

The 360 Heel Cup is designed to offer support to the whole heel and beyond. It offers protection to both the medial and lateral sides to keep the heel aligned and prevent any kind of eversion or inversion, as well as cushioning the beginning of the plantar fascia to prevent the development or exacerbation of plantar fasciitis.

How Does the Pwr-Bridge Work?

By making use of a series of support structures across the heel and mid-foot, Pwr-Bridge technology properly aligns the heel and stabilises the foot. This allows support to be carried along the foot and through the medial and lateral arch, using the biomechanical correction of foot posture, throughout the gait cycle.

How Does Pwr-Thane Work?

Formulated to improve shock-absorption, the Pwr-Thane material absorbs energy when cushioning the heel and returns that energy to the foot for the highest level of performance. It is also built to last, and can withstand impact for long periods of time without losing its performance focused qualities.

Which Sizes Are Available?

This Heel Cups are available in two sizes that should suit most users. Please match your shoe size to the table below to find which size is best for your needs.

Heel Cup UK Shoe Size
Small Size 1 - 7
Large Size 7 - 14.5

Which Activities Are These Heel Cups Appropriate For?

Explicitly designed for Ironman triathlon training, these heel cups are ideal supporting your heel and foot through a range of high impact activities, in particular running. In line with the additional intensity of the Ironman triathlon, these heel cups are designed for long duration and high intensity activity, and are appropriate to wear throughout all three triathlon activities.

Our Guide to Finding the Perfect Size and Fit

Using Your Shoe Size

For most of our insoles, the easiest way to find the best size for you is to go off of your current shoe size. The majority of our insoles are available in a range of sizes and you can simply select the size that best fits your existing shoes.

Please be aware that, as with shoes, there can be slight variations in the size of insoles. For example a size 8 of one brand might not be exactly the same size and width as the size 8 of another. To help account for these discrepancies, a number of our insoles include dimensions to help you ensure you're getting the right size.

Measuring Your Current Insoles

While using your shoe size to find your best size is a good guide, it is not always foolproof. If you want to guarantee that your insole fit your shoes as closely as possible, we recommend measuring your existing insole and using this as a guide to your size.

To do this, please follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Remove the existing insole from the shoes you wish to use your new insoles with (please note that not all insoles are removable)
  2. Measure the insoles at their longest and widest points (see the below diagram for an idea of where this will be
  3. Match the measurements to the dimensions of the insoles listed, and choose the size that best fits your results

Where Can I Find the Dimensions?

The dimensions for insoles can be found on the "Product Details" tab (please see below) and are usually found in the sizing section of the listing, in a table. Please be aware that not all products currently have the dimensions listed.

Trimming Your Insoles to Fit

To get the ultimate level of fit from your insoles, you can trim them to make a small adjustment. To trim your insoles, simply follow the steps below:

  1. Remove your existing insoles from your shoes
  2. Line up your existing and new insoles at the heel
  3. Trace the outline of the insoles against the new pair at the toe end (see the image below for an example)
  4. Carefully cut along the traced line
  5. Your insoles should now fit your shoes better

Trace the outline of your existing insoles
Carefully trace the outline of your insole

Please note that not all insoles are suitable for trimming. Most insoles are unsuitable for return once they have been trimmed to fit; we recommend bearing this in mind prior to trimming.

If you would like a more detailed guide to trimming your insoles, please read our full guide on How to Trim Your Insoles.
