Ottobock WalkOn Drop Foot Support
The Ottobock WalkOn Drop Foot Support is ideal for drop foot with no more than mild spasticity, e.g after stroke, traumatic brain injury in multiple sclerosis, neural muscular atrophy, peroneal palsy etc. The Ottobock WalkOn Drop Foot Support provides the user with a dynamic and physiological gait, natural heel strike and an increase in step length and walking speed.
Who Can Benefit From The Ottobock WalkOn Drop Foot Support?
The Ottobock WalkOn Drop Foot Support Is designed for mild foot drop caused by:
- Multiple sclerosis
- Neural muscular atrophy
- Peroneal palsy
The Otto Bock WalkOn Flex is especially appropriate when the ability to lift the foot decreases during activities (muscle exhaustion). The Ottobock WalkOn has been especially designed for the needs of active people. The support is made of carbon fiber, which makes it exceptionally light but very stable and durable.
The Otto Bock WalkOn Drop Foot Support prevents foot slap, gives good foot lift (clearance) and offers smooth roll-over in the heel and forefoot zone. Energy is stored and used in the swing phase. A stable shoe together with the medial strut prevent supination and the the user is provided with a slight outward rotation of the foot during swing phase.
Features and Benefits of the Ottobock WalkOn Drop Foot Support
The heel and the anterior part of the foot are flexible for a more dynamic and natural gait pattern – on both even and uneven surfaces. In contrast, the middle foot area and calf band are designed to be stable in order to efficiently support lifting the foot.
At the end of the swing-through phase, your foot is dynamically guided back so that you can once again step comfortably with your heel at the start of the standing phase. The energy stored during the heel impact is released when you push forward with your toes. Therefore you have to expend less energy for walking and can cover longer distances without problems.
This orthosis is light and slim, so that it fits inconspicuously under clothes, unlike some foot drop supports. The removable calf pad increases the level of comfort.
You should wear the orthosis in a sturdy shoe. We recommend that you place the orthosis into the shoe first and then insert your foot. The orthosis then acts like a shoehorn. You should ensure that the hook-and-loop tape used to attach it to the lower leg is sufficiently tight. This allows you to prevent unnecessary movement and possible friction.
The Ottobock WalkOn Drop Foot Support can easily be cut down to fit in a particular set of shoes, so you can get the exact fit you need. It is available in a range of different shoe sizes.
